My name is Bernie Cramer, I started growing bonsai when my 2nd eldest son,Wade, gave me a bonsai for my 50th birthday, that's 4 years ago, I now have 50 trees, My number one tree, is a erithrina lysistemon, or Coral Tree, as it is called. None of my bonsai are over 50 years old, the oldest is my Olea Africana, "Wild Olive", there are acacias, ficus, maples, bougainvillias and many more. We, here in South Africa are very fortunate in that we have such a wide veriaty of "Indigenouse" trees, that are good Bonsai material,in Kwa-Zulu Natal there are about 350.Most popular are the acacias,of which there are 40 or more types, these are usualy trained into the " Pierneef " style, Pierneef was a famouse South African Artist, who painted scenes of the african bushveld, he painted the thorn trees (acacias) in the Umberella style, see the the style in the animated movie,"THE LION KING." Please go to My photo page and see, and enjoy My bonsai, THANK YOU. To see My other site, click on My picture.
